HOT WALK

ABOVE - before, a narrow strip of land down the side of the house with the field on one side was a rather dead area.

RIGHT - now, under the larch tree at the top of the slope a Shade Garden with cool foliage has been created with a stone bench giving a view down the hill.

Box-edged beds make a formal walk down to the rest of the garden. Hot colours abound - Dahlia 'Bishop of Llandaff', Croscosmia 'Lucifer', Euphorbia 'Fireglow' and Ricinus. Four Irish yews underplanted with silver stachys frame the end of the walk.

Below - standing under the larch tree before clearance of the scrub.

Right - the same view nowadays.
